RedHat are making noticeable amounts of money by selling you the CDs 
(that you can later copy/modify/etc under the terms of the GPL). I don't 
know about the bleeding-edge 8.0, but I remember of older distros being 
more expensive than Microsoft Windows.
 From time to time, some magazine (often PC World) (at least in Spain) 
comes with Mandrake, with SuSE or with RedHat (usually just one CD), but 
I think this is on the benefit of those enterprises.
