Correction:  it's unlikely that the crashing of the IDE has much to do 
with my Athlon computer, since it does work with my Micro$oft Win98 
Emergency boot disk.  Probably some graphics driver,  display.sys maybe? 
 Anyway, next time I tinker with this I'll try the new kernel and 
display.sys.
