There's actually a project about making a FD-Package manager that could
precisely install, verify and uninstall. The project seems to be pretty
abandoned.
Some of us wonder if there wouldn't be a good idea to make a kind of
package that would be a ZIP file plus a certain text file (or maybe
binary) containing the neccessary information about the package (say
name, version, etc, tones of other fields to be discussed).

By the way, now that this stuff about packages pops up again, I'd like
to address this idea that I have not seen already, as it seems that ZIP
packages may use the C:\DOS directory as default, perhaps it would be
interesting to have a way to handle the case in which one decides to
install FreeDOS at, say, C:\FDOS.
Perhaps the configuration file should have a filed like
BasePath=%DOS%\BIN
where %DOS% would be included in a small set of variables, and would be
replaced with the appropriate value, or whatever.
