There are quite a few free programs that can put the machine in V86 mode, but you want one that also provides UMBs and allows DPMI programs to run. I know only one free "program" that can do that now: Linux+DOSEMU. Bart P.S. In the other mail I sent a kernel binary as an attachment (accidentally to the list) - can you test that one?
