Hi, to answer the question:
I know how VCPI is supposed to work, and I know quite a lot about the workings
of protected mode. But it is very hard to debug such things (basically only
possible with Bochs, I guess), and I do not feel like being able to implement
VCPI in the time that I have available for FreeDOS currently.

However, I would be happy to give advice to anybody who wants to improve
stuff around emm386ish problems.
