Hi

New release 0.0.52 at
ftp.nvg.ntnu.no:/pub/vms/freevms (freevms-0_0_52.tgz and linker-0_0_45)
(Linker might not change each time)

News:
With CONFIG_VMS:
CMUIP now working some with UML (at least tuntap), and has replaced Linux IP.
It arps and pings. TCP (with telnet) works partly/uneven.
The socket interface is for the time being disabled.
General:
Misc fixes with ASTs, IOPOST and some I/O-parts to implement them better.

Bug fixed:
Timer queue-related.

New bug:
Without CONFIG_VMS, something happens in the cluster networking code
while starting lo or eth0 interfaces (first with gcc 3.1, last with
RH gcc 3.2.2), which makes a panic.

Note:
CONFIG_VMS:
Have done unsuccessfull adaptations of 3c59x and ne/8390.
3c59x gets probed, but the PC resets while initializing it, and
ne/8390 did not probe.
So now i386 has no networking with that option.
To use networking you need to have a file /INET$CONFIG (see examples)
Due to some things lacking, telnet does not give login prompt etc.
(I have no idea of how loginout.exe gets started)

Next:
Will do more with the IP stuff.
Might move clustering to just CONFIG_VMS mode, and go from socket to QIO.

Not so short-term I/O and other plans:
Let RMS also use Ext2 with write support.
Execute programs with execve and imgact on Ods-2.
Get more/better write-support in.
Do more SCA/SCS stuff.
After some time even more driver support might be cut/broke (the most).

Regards,
Roar Thronæs
