I think it's fine by me.  

I want it to be the case that oskit becomes the mainline branch at
some point... In other words, a checkout of the current mainline,
occasionally updated, should someday start getting the oskit version
instead of the old one.  I'm unsure from your description if that
would be happening now.  (I don't think it needs to happen now, though
I'm fine with that.)
