Status of SATA support

Hello,

I'm thinking about upgrading my motherboard to something that supports
a free bios (i.e. Coreboot). I'd like to be able to run Gnu Hurd on
it. The only issue I have is whether I need to buy something that
still has PATA, or whether we should have support for SATA in the not
too distant future.
