 Update - this actutally happens in Macos 7.5.5 as well.  I have an issue 
 open with the ZuluSCSI folks to try to troubleshoot.  I will update again 
 when I have more info.  But to state the obvious - it doesn't look like a 
 NetBSD specific issue - more likely hardware/firmware...
