I had followed that advice from phone many years ago and lived happily
ever after...  (Admittedly, I still do make USETOOLS=no now and then
in a r/w view of the tree now and then, but, inevitably, eventually
you'd forget and have to curse and clean up).  Building from R/O src FTW!
