Hi all, Thank you for all replies, both to the list and off-list. It turns out, the hard drive was slightly warn-out and I've replaced that but also, the SATA interposer (i.e. a part of the connection interface between the disk and the motherboard) was damaged so connection was lost. I've found a local shop that could sell one and I've just re-installed the base system on aa new SSD. Commits coming soon :)
