You are almost certainly wrong here.  He didn't say 'From:' he said 
'Sender:'.  Thunderbird will show the From: field in the Sender column, 
but then it's stupid that way.  Go to View->Headers->All, and look at 
the headers for this message and you'll see that the Sender: header is 
[email protected] (small error on David's part).

When setting up the filter in Thunderbird, it doesn't have the 'Sender:' 
header in the list of headers by default, so you'll have to select 
'Customize' and add it.
