What about two (default: empty) sysctl strings that are issued before and after kernel messages? So Timo could put in his beloved ANSI-or-whatever-coulor-control-sequences, others cout fill in "---- BEGIN KERNEL OUTPUT ---\n" and "--- END KERNEL OUTPUT ---\n" and everybody else woud keep the empty defaut.
