I went to build inputmethod/anthy-elisp against emacs30nox.
editors/emacs30-nox11 built and installed, and then anthy-elisp
stopped in depends.mk on a dependency that can never be satisfied.
editors/emacs30-nox11/version.mk asks for a package that pkgsrc does
not build:
_EMACS_REQD= emacs30-no-x11>=30.1<31
while the package itself is named emacs30-nox11:
PKGNAME= ${DISTNAME:S/emacs/emacs30/:S/-/-nox11-/}
-> emacs30-nox11-30.2
Every other generation spells it without the second hyphen:
emacs26-nox11 emacs26-nox11>=26.1<27
emacs27-nox11 emacs27-nox11>=27.1<28
emacs28-nox11 emacs28-nox11>=28.1<29
emacs29-nox11 emacs29-nox11>=29.1<30
emacs30-nox11 emacs30-no-x11>=30.1<31 <- this one
The string emacs30-no-x11 occurs exactly once in the whole tree, in
this file. Nothing builds a package by that name.
The package itself is fine. What breaks is everything that depends on
it: editors/emacs/modules.mk turns _EMACS_REQD into the DEPENDS line,
so with EMACS_TYPE=emacs30nox no Emacs Lisp package can be built at
all. anthy-elisp is just the one I happened to try.
version.mk is still at revision 1.1, so this has been the case since
emacs30-nox11 was added on 2025-12-16.

No build is needed; the wrong name is visible in the variable. Any
package that uses editors/emacs/modules.mk will do:
$ cd /usr/pkgsrc/devel/cmake-mode
$ make EMACS_TYPE=emacs29nox show-var VARNAME=DEPENDS
emacs29-nox11>=29.1<30:../../editors/emacs29-nox11
$ make EMACS_TYPE=emacs30nox show-var VARNAME=DEPENDS
emacs30-no-x11>=30.1<31:../../editors/emacs30-nox11
The pattern and the directory it points at disagree:
$ cd /usr/pkgsrc/editors/emacs30-nox11
$ make show-var VARNAME=PKGNAME
emacs30-nox11-30.2
Building instead of asking says both things in a row, on NetBSD
11.0/i386:

ERROR: [depends.mk] A package matching ``emacs30-no-x11>=30.1<31''
ERROR: should be installed, but one cannot be found. Perhaps
ERROR: there is a stale work directory for
ERROR: ../../editors/emacs30-nox11?
It installs the dependency, notices it is already there, and then
reports that nothing matching it can be found. The suggestion about a
stale work directory is a red herring.

Spell it the way the package is named, as the other generations do.
No PKGREVISION bump: version.mk changes what dependent packages ask
for, not anything editors/emacs30-nox11 installs.
