Module Name: pkgsrc Committed By: wiz Date: Tue Aug 11 13:03:44 UTC 2026 Modified Files: pkgsrc/print/qpdf: Makefile PLIST distinfo Log Message: qpdf: update to 12.4.0. 12.4.0: August 9, 2026 Bug fixes Fix error message when --check encounters a file without any pages. In QPDFAcroFormDocumentHelper::fixCopiedAnnotations remove non-array and empty /Annots entries from copied pages as well as non-dictionary annotations. Fixes a bug that could cause qpdf to throw a logic error when error when copying pages with damaged annotations. Fix failure in QPDFWriter when trailer /ID entries are invalid. Limit the effect of QPDF::setMaxWarnings to the initial loading of the PDF file. Any exceptions thrown as a result of the warning limit being exceeded indicate that the file is too damaged to be processed. Throwing the exception after the file is loaded risks that it would be treated like other exceptions that permit further processing. In QPDFPageObjectHelper::getMatrixForTransformations handle /Rotation entries that are less than 0 or greater than 360 correctly. Previously they were treated as 0. Security and robustness To reduce the risk of excessive recursion and stack overflows when processing damaged or malicious PDF files, qpdf now enforces conservative limits on the depth of direct objects that may be created using QPDFObjectHandle::makeDirect. To reduce the risk of excessive recursion and stack overflows when processing damaged or malicious PDF files, qpdf now enforces conservative limits on the depth of the pages tree. Detect some duplicate entries in the AcroForm field hierarchy earlier in order to avoid very large runtimes in specially constructed invalid PDF files. Enhancements Rewrite the shell completion functions for zsh and bash. In prior versions of qpdf, the qpdf executable itself was used to provide completion functionality. This was unreliable (didn’t work right with spaces in executable name, though there was a workaround), had various bugs when qpdf was wrapped, and was potentially insecure as it could leak sensitive arguments into the environment. The new approach uses job.yml to autogenerate the completion functions from the same metadata that is used to generate the command-line argument parsing code. --show-linearization / QPDF::showLinearization now attempts to show linearization data even if linearization checks throw an exception. This can be useful for damaged/invalid files. Build changes The new REQUIRE_SHELLS CMake option causes completion tests to fail if a new enough bash and zsh are not installed. This option is enabled by default in maintainer mode.
