What you can do, you already did:
cd /usr/pkgsrc/wip/somewhere
cvs rm -f work*
cvs ci -m 'Oops, remove accidentally committed files.'

I'll add it to my cleanup tasks to remove it from the repository;
there is no way using cvs(1), I have to touch the files manually.
