FWIW, my bulk builder is supposed to set CHECKOUT_DATE, and you can see 
that my previous builds did not have this problem.  But something seems to 
have broken for this build (hmm. I do not understand how this could fail; 
I have not changed my script, and the mk/ files looks OK too..)

Anyway, I'll ensure my next build does the right thing wrt CHECKOUT_DATE.
