Strangely, if I run the following command (found in config.log) manually
in the work directory, there is no error:

./configure --prefix=/usr/pkg --build=i486--netbsdelf --host=i486--netbsdelf --mandir=/usr/pkg/man

If I run make from wip/mpiblast, error mentioned at the top of the mail
occurs.
