Have you seen wip/mk/svn-package.mk?
Perhaps that would make your life easier.

I tried building on 4.99.5/amd64, and it failed in the configure
step because the "compiler can't create executables". config.err contains:
gcc -O2 -I/usr/pkg/include -fomit-frame-pointer -march=i686 -c -o /tmp/ffmpeg-co
nf--18261-.o /tmp/ffmpeg-conf--18261-.c
/tmp/ffmpeg-conf--18261-.c:1: error: CPU you selected does not support x86-64 in
struction set
