missed the review list.... sorry for dup... ----- Forwarded message from George Georgalis <[email protected]> ----- Date: Mon, 26 Mar 2007 17:40:20 -0400 From: George Georgalis <[email protected]> To: [email protected], [email protected] Subject: new fork package for R For all you R programmers out there, there is a new fork package (not yet on the main r-project site), http://metrg.net/pub/pkgsrc/math/R-fork/ the key advantage of this version is, it actually forks (!), without leaving zombie processes, ie file descriptors are properly closed. It follows the model of other R packages, I don't really understand why PLIST is empty, but they all are. We are using this in production with no problems. I cannot remember if there is a freeze in 2007Q1 or if the freeze is eminent, but this is pretty simple and if it could fast track into that tag, that would be great.
