I've retried; installation with destdir fails:
installing executable file to /scratch/wip/dwm/work/.destdir/scratch/wip/dwm/work/.destdir/usr/pkg/bin
installing manual page to /scratch/wip/dwm/work/.destdir/scratch/wip/dwm/work/.destdir/usr/pkg/man/man1
=> Automatic manual page handling
=> Generating post-install file lists
pkg_create: can't stat `/scratch/wip/dwm/work/.destdir/usr/pkg/bin/dwm'
pkg_create: can't stat `/scratch/wip/dwm/work/.destdir/usr/pkg/man/man1/dwm.1'
=> Checking file-check results for dwm-5.5nb1
ERROR: ************************************************************
ERROR: The following files are in the PLIST but not in /usr/pkg:
ERROR:         /scratch/wip/dwm/work/.destdir/usr/pkg/bin/dwm
ERROR:         /scratch/wip/dwm/work/.destdir/usr/pkg/man/man1/dwm.1
*** Error code 1

Probably because the directories don't exist in advance. Give destdir
a try! (The fix probably is "INSTALLATION_DIRS= bin
${PKGMANDIR}/man1".)

I'd also appreciate if you could set the LICENSE variable for the
package to the correct value.
