I only confirmed it working by creating yet another package for  
Prosody (the XMPP server), which I can't commit yet, as it requires  
updates in main pkgsrc tree.

That would work I guess. The reason why I went for a patch is that the  
package's Makefile has explicite sections for all platforms supported,  
so the patch really substitutes for proper SunOS support in the  
package's Makefile. I'll suggest upstream of course.
