I'd probably go ahead and let them conflict. About your previous question: The explicit CONFLICTS aren't so important any longer now that the usual method is to build a binary package first and then pkg_add it later -- pkg_add is smart enough to complain (previously program Makefile could just overwrite other packages' files, but since DESTDIR, this isn't possible any longer).
