I think if that someone had time, he'd just do it.
(That's not saying I know if there's a someone, but time is a general 
issue). Maybe start poking on your own. Then release early and see what 
happens - NetBSD supports already a number of MIPS platforms so there may 
be a good base for start. Biggest problem is probably getting the kernel 
into the machine, and finding documentation about the hardware.

If you find anything, post it here so others can work from that.
