Sorry, it's my turn; i forgot to read "current" in your previous post.
I'll test that this week end and keep you informed (this is a remote box 
-not located where I currently live- and I need to be there if the 
kernel doesn't want to boot anymore).
Is trying current worth it? I mean are there any SMP support 
improvements made since the very recent 2.0 release that could possibly 
solve this little annoyance? The changelogs are slim and I can't find 
any clues of such modifications.
