ISTR what is left of apm is a compatibility shim on top of ACPI.

This leaves machines like my Thinkpad T23 out in the cold, because the=20
original apm subsystem has been ripped out (partly), and their ACPI=20
support is not new enough to be supported. Result is no power=20
management at all, which is annoying for a notebook.
