X core dump in 3.0.1 (amd64)

Hi,

I just installed 3.0.1 and try to get X working at 1024x768. So far, I 
get 800x600. When I try "X -configure" it segfaults in XF86Config.core. 
I have tried to look for a manual or guideline to solve it (had a link, 
but lost it), but so far no result.
Any hints please?
