Partial success on Compaq DS15

Hello,
newcomer here, both on NetBSD and Alpha machines.

After failing the installation on a Compaq DS10 (via CD) I found this
list when looking for help. On the DS10 I could complete the
installation of 10.99 over HTTP but it will hang during boot.

Same situation for a DS15, where the CD setup showed no DMA errors
(acerid0) so I could complete the installation without the need for
network. But at reboot it hangs the machine on the X background. I
used PS/2 keyboard and mouse, and a VGA screen. I will try a text-only
installation, and eventually connecting with the serial output.
