The A1200 has a bug that a reset doesn't reset the PCMCIA card
(the A600 is fine), a fix needs some soldering.

You are right that it's only PCMCIA (16bit ISA) not PC-Card (32bit PCI).
You also cannot use a PCMCIA bus master card (there were a few).
