I just changed the RELEASEDIR in sysupgrade.conf to the one in the release candidate announcement and ran sysupgrade auto. I was surprised that I didn't have to do anything interactive for etcupdate. Just now I took a look at my /etc/rc.conf and what I saw was two copies of what I had, one after the other. As I was scratching my head over that the X server died and then the system crashed. I haven't yet investigated that. Also, I noticed earlier that firefox and sylpheed which I had installed with pkgin long ago had disappeared.
