(I'm embarrassed to admit that I re-loaded the system three times  
originally because I disabled telnet before adding a root password  
and normal user. *ahem*  SSH doesn't like to let you in when that  
happens...)

Thanks.  I'll try that when I get a chance.  (I'm booked with things  
to do this weekend.  Pseudo-aunt's wedding, Mom's re-loaded system,  
my father's rear brakes on his truck.  See what happens when a geek  
knows too much! ;-)

So when the original install is finished does it run GENERIC or  
INSTALL?  If it runs install that explains why my kernel borked it -  
I used GENERIC and removed a few things then added usb lines.
