It was a bad cable. The only thing that really didn't work was the dhcpd for whatever reason. The rest of the machine worked and network I/O seemed unaffected other than the messages. The ex0 card is now working too, maybe it was more sensitive to the bad cable. I feel like such a noob... Thanks Izumi. Andy
