I also noticed that gcc 3.3.3 worked on Alchemy boards if it was
compiled with "-O2 -g" as well.  I suspect there's some funny TLB or
cache edge case that we're catching, but I have no idea what it is.  I
do think it's entirely likely we'll see this problem again sometime,
either with GCC or some other program.

I don't suppose anyone has a JTAG probe that works with an Alchemy CPU?
