I have received a question, and try and answer here.

This is a limitation of IODC.
Since IODC addresses boot media by byte count
and the address is 32bit signed value,
only the top 2GB of a media is accessible.
This is probably why HP-UX has /stand as a separate partition.

I don't know how this was changed on 64bit firmware.
