pam_start failed?

I built -current this morning and installed it and am netbooting. The
machine boots, but I can't log in with this error:

login: root
login: pam_start failed
Feb  1 16:52:45 hp700 login: in openpam_load_module(): no pam_self.so found
Feb  1 16:52:45 hp700 login: pam_start failed: system error

What is this? I don't want to use pam? Or something?

It might be nice to update the netboot docs if this is something that
needs to be configured. I've netbooted a ton of machines and I've
never seen this.
