I discovered, today, that it's a push-on/push-off mechanical switch and
I simply wasn't pushing it in far enough (probably in large part
because the front-panel plastic is missing).  When pushed with a
suitable tool (say, a #1 or #2 Phillips screwdriver), it clicks in and
clicks out very nicely.

However, still no joy.  It stays powered up, and a voltmeter shows nice
voltages on the +5, +12, and -12 lines, but nothing happens, in
particular no sound from the speaker.  The CPU gets warm enough to
detect by touch (implying that it's getting clock), but that's all it
seems willing to do.

Should I expect the startup chime even with no monitor connected?  If
not, what pins should I jump to make it think there's a monitor
connected?  The DA15<->DE15 adapter I found (the one I think I wired up
myself) connects

Is that jumper between pins 7 and 10 suitable?  It still didn't chime
with this adapter connected but nothing plugged into the DE15.
