   I had to head out before I could dig in any deeper.  It has rapidly 
become not worth the hassle; I am giving up on it.  There are hundreds 
of other machines that need work, and this one has already burned way 
too much of my time.

   I will hang onto this bootable drive; if anyone ends up digging into 
the PMAGB-B support to find out why it's borked, I have a good test 
environment and can give it a try.
