As far as I'can think, it shouldn't be a problem. Since all intelligence for the printer resided under software control in the NeXT box, I can't think of a reason why NeXT would have done anything funky with the cable. I'd assume it's just a straight through cable. But if someone has access to a multi-meter, it should be fairly easy to measure this, i.e. if there are any connections that are not 1 to 1, 2 to 2, etc. The only tricky thing might be the cable's impedance, such that the printer gets a clean control signal.
