No. The crash is not under NetBSD's control.
I'm quite sure it happens in rtas_attach() during the first OF-call.

AFAIK the original OF MMU and BAT settings are restored on every OF-call.
Maybe, when using more than 256MB, we are passing pointers to memory into OF
which is not mapped. As a consequence OF will crash.

Just a wild guess: maybe already the "buf" argument in the "rtas-version" call
is not from the lowest 256MB, when 512MB are configured?
