Pegasos2 viaide instability

Hi,

yesterday I tried to install 4.99.58 from CD to a fresh hard disk.
The hard disk is master on the primary and the CDRom is master on
the secondary channel.

I have repeatedly complete system lockups during extraction of the
binary sets (usually with "base", sometimes later) from CD to hard
disk.

It seems to work better, when copying the archives to the hard disk
first, then extracting them without using the CDRom.

Anybody else who can reproduce that?

The system will freeze completely. Keyboard no longer works. You
cannot ping it. Nothing. The IDE activity LED on the Pegasos is on.
Happens with 512MB and 256MB. This is a G3/600.
