The right thing forward is to fix NEW_TOOLCHAIN for your needs,
not to keep using the old toolchain forever. You can always
get the old toolchain off cvs, so there isn't any reason to not remove
the old toolchain.

However, I think your time would be better spent on other things,
rather than maintaining a.out toolchain for NetBSD. Note that
only ELF toolchain is supported option, a.out has been kept for
transition reasons only.
