I opened the case and identified the power module, it is:
	SL05S09-1SA

	SL SERIES SIP PACKAGE  DC-DC CONVERTER

There is a pdf there and it gives:
         Input voltage     5     VDC
         Output voltage   12     VDC
         Output Current  200     mA (max)
         Input current    60     mA (no load)
         Input current   580     mA (full load)
So now we know.

Does a standard AT power supply allow 580mA off a 4-pin plug? Does not
sound like much to me.
