Possible to use the bundled toolchain?

I know that currently playstation2 is supposed to be built with a special "mipsEEel-netbsd" toolchain. However, this seems only to be required for the kernel, which implies that only *asm* kernel code needs it. Would it be possible to hand-assemble the needed EE instructions via ".word" directives, and use the standard "mipsel" toolchain to build the kernel? This would simplify maintenance and allow easy cross-building, at least until the "mipsEE" code is in a released gcc/binutils version used by NetBSD. -- -- Todd Vierling <[email protected]> * Wasabi & NetBSD: Run with it. -- CDs, Integration, Embedding, Support -- http://www.wasabisystems.com/
