Yes, "slot 6" is the on-board ethernet. I wonder if those errors means that there's some sort of RAM (a buffer maybe) in the ethernet hardware? If those are the only errors (and if they really mean your on-board ethernet is not happy), you should still be able to plug a PMAD ethernet card into one of the TurboChannel slots and use that instead.
