Sorry, I have not much experience with evbppc, and none at all with the Wii,
but I would guess that this wii.img is only needed for initial booting (a
kind of install kernel/system)?

Afterwards you would partition your disk and install all the system archives
from evbppc/binary, which should include xbase, xfont, xetc and xserver.

General problems, that happen with each package, of specific Xorg-problems,
which happen at a later stage?
