I just committed what's needed to run crime_drv with native Xorg. Most  
of the glitches are gone but screenshots won't work since image reads  
aren't implemented yet.

5.0 is close enough but you will need the latest X sources. crime_drv  
and libxaa from -current should Just Work on 5.0.

My dual 500MHz G4 manages to build sgimips with X overnight, whatever  
x86 you have should be faster.

anything funny in nsswitch.conf? That sounds rather weird.
Is your network interface configured properly? Otherwise you should at  
lease be able to ping the router.
