No. It used to, but since this started, that chip hasn't worked anywhere. (Admittedly, I haven't tried it in anything but an SLC or ELC; I'm not sure I've got anything else it would fit any longer.) The thing that surprises me is that the NVRAM chip is _capable_ of wedging the whole machine even before early POST prints anything. > You could try to "hack" it with a new batter. That's on my list to try. > Are you sure you inserted it correctly? If you use the carrier it > should be fine, but without it is easy not to. You may fry it. (I > did...) Fairly sure. The board silkscreen has a notch at one end; I make sure that end gets pin 1, where pin 1 is marked by the small circular depression in the case plastic and also is the conventional lower-left corner when the chip is held with its printing upright. Besides, that's the same orientation that worked fine with the previous day of attempts. /~\ The ASCII Mouse \ / Ribbon Campaign X Against HTML [email protected] / \ Email! 7D C8 61 52 5D E7 2D 39 4E F1 31 3E E8 B3 27 4B
