Really? I use one routinely (it's my main screen-&-keyboard).

I've got a spare qec I can pop into a 20 and see if I can figure out
what it takes to make netboot work; it'd be an old kernel, but if
that'd help anyone I can do it. ("Old kernel" meaning 1.4T, 4.0.1, or
5.2, or if whoever wants it is willing to wait a while, 1.6.2.)

It's fine, provided you don't use too bloated a compiler (or, more
generally, system). That's one of the reasons I'm still using 1.4T on
my NetBSD/sparc machines.
