10.0 - Installer newfs segfaults on SS2

Does anyone have an SS2 running 10.0 or that they would be willing to try an install ?

I have an IPX (basically same platform as SS2 just cut down) and it installs/runs 10.0 happily.

This SS2 is new to me - but it boots fine, nothing nasty in dmesg, no apparent SCSI issues etc.  I can also seemingly write data to drives (using dd to blow away disklabel).

The machine has 64mb RAM, and a cgsix.  Very boring hardware-wise.

I have tried both a ZuluSCSI emulator card as well as a real Sun blessed Seagate mech. HDD.  Same exact result with both.

The fact that newfs segfaults and doesn’t produce any other errors makes me think it’s *not* hardware ?  I could certainly be wrong on this point, but it just seems very specific.
