Oh and even more obvious, if the status LED on the front and back is flashing green then the host machine is in standby (aka not running). If it is solid green then the host/machine is "running." If you see an orange LED, then ALOM and/or OBP is indicating one or more faults. It may be minor like the NVRAM coin battery is dead, or it could be more serious. Laterly I've been seeing this a lot from equipment that has been off too many years and the SIMMs all need to be pulled, contacts cleaned and reinstalled.
